I have for sale a Lotus Twin Cam Engine that was rebuilt approximately 6 years ago, it was originally fitted to a Lotus Elan Sprint, and the engine did around 1000 miles before being removed and stored in my garage, I had the intention of using it for a very special Elan project that hasn’t happened for one reason or another.
This is a very nice torquey engine, I have attached the dyno printout that gives the figures. Over 150bhp at the flywheel and 125bhp at the wheels. There are Q420 cams and larger valves along with accralite forged pistons. The head thickness is 4.56 inches (116mm) the block is bored to 83.5mm
I intended to use this engine with fuel injection, hence there are no carbs or dizzy included, but it would run well with carburettors.
The head was converted to 420 plus bigger valves by Paul Exon who was the manager of the well known QED workshop and took it over when it was closed by QED. All parts came from QED.
The block is a Genuine Lotus “L” block supplied by Paul Matty, soda blasted and checked for faults by NDT methods before being bored to 83.5 to suit Accrilite pistons that were machined to suit the bigger valves plus 10.5:1 CR.
The conrods & crank are standard Sprint parts, and all assembly studs and bolts are ARP from Burton. The crank is +10 with shells and thrust bearings from Burton.
Conrods and crank individually balanced, as was the flywheel.
