1993 Lotus Esprit SE – VIN SCCFC20B8PHF60232
For sale is my 1993 Lotus Esprit SE – a fun, well sorted machine with lots of recent care and attention. I bought the car with ~93000 miles in 2018; it needed quite a bit of work to get it back into good form. I performed timing belt maintenance, replacing idler pulley and serpentine belts during the job, along with complete fluid flush including oil, brake fluid, transaxle, and coolant (both engine and chargecooler circuit). Since then I have put approximately 2000 miles on the car and have changed the oil yearly, despite the low mileage use.
Since then I have been getting the rest of the car into the current state – fully replacing all bushings and suspension wear items, new steering rack and tie rod ends, new height adjustable coilovers, dampers, brake pads and front rotors, clutch master and slave cylinder, plugs, plug lead wires, new RC fuel injectors, and several other odds and ends. I have installed wheel spacers to bring the wheels further out to fill the arches. The previous owner states there is a memcal chip installed in the ECU.
Inside the car is mostly stock, with the exception of the radio, steering wheel (alcantara lined Nardi wheel, with the original wheel in storage which comes with the car), and shifter. The previous owner had reupholstered the original seats in a subpar fabric to combat the Florida heat, so I sourced tan Lotus S4 seats and installed those.
The exterior of the car shows some flaws where there was some body work done in the past, in the front driver’s corner. It is not readily apparent from a distance, however is noticeable up close. There are a handful of minor chips in the gelcoat but as a whole the car is in remarkable shape considering its age and mileage.
Everything in the car works, with the exception of the AC. The previous owner mentioned that it does indeed work when filled, however there is a slow leak. I never filled it to test. The car comes with several cans of R12 refrigerant as well. Power locks, mirrors, windows, fuel release switches, headlight actuators, etc all work.
I am selling the car simply because I do not drive it enough and feel it should go to someone who will enjoy it more often than I do. Please let me know if you have any questions about the car or would like me to send any other pictures.
