The 5 litre, 48 valve, flat 12 engine received a power boost to 428hp and a whopping 362lb/ft of torque, propelling the vehicle to 60MPH in just 4.9 seconds with a maximum velocity of 195MPH.

Further improvements included 18″, 5 spoke wheels, required to accomodate the larger, now cross-drilled, brake discs, an improved gear selection, an improved weight distribution and a revised interior trim.

This particular example, finished in Grigio with a Crema leather interior, was first registered in September 1993 and has had just four keepers in that time. The original owner was a renowned overseas collector who kept the car for nine years, covering a distance of just 1627 miles. Generally regarded as the most desirable version, the 3.4S boasted three 2-inch SU carburetors in place of the usual two 1.75-inch SU’s found on the base model. Coupled with other engine modifications, power was raised from an already impressive 190BHP to an outstanding 250BHP.

This particular vehicle has a fully documented history. The original green Log Book shows just four owners from new. Purchased in 1967, for the sum of £375, Mr Magee started on a light refurbishment that remained unfinished for the next thirty seven years. When the current owner acquired the vehicle in 2004, the work required had escalated somewhat and a full restoration was required.

The vehicle was entrusted to marque expert Brian Stevens who completed the work in 2008. A few sensible upgrades were incorporated along the way, including the addition of electric power steering, electronic ignition, a stainless steel exhaust and an alternator. Recent work has included a full restoration of the gearbox and the replacement of the overdrive unit. The clutch and brakes have very recently been attended to and the car now wishes for nothing.

Having won Best in Class at the 2008 Goodwood XK60 event, this vehicle is presented in outstanding condition and is a credit to it’s current owner who is now retiring from driving.
