We have owned this car for a couple of years and our Lotus technicians have been working on in when they have time, however we just don’t have the time anymore to fully finish the project as we are busy working on customers cars, so we are selling it to someone who is looking for a project.

We have spent literally £1000′s on this Eclat with genuine Lotus parts, it has had a full body respray, the wheels have been refurbished, it has had new brakes, new carpets and the interior has been refurbished to a high standard.

The owner prior to me had owned the car for twenty five years and I have some wonderful shots of the car taken early in to his ownership. I acquired the car one year ago and set about a comprehensive restoration.

The chassis was restored to a 1965 specification by Arch Motors and was then delivered to a marque expert of some thirty five years’ standing for him to commence the build. The chassis number is SB19** and the correct frame number has been retained.

Factory records show that the vehicle was originally red in colour and was supplied with a 1500cc Ford pre-crossflow engine to a Cosworth specification. The correct Ford gearbox and Standard Ten rear axle were employed, along with a set of Lotus Elan bolt-on wheels with hubcaps. Uprights are of the correct early Triumph type with new springs and shock absorbers.

The restoration has remained as faithful to the original specification as possible with just a couple of considerations made to modern motoring, in the interests of safety. These include a, later, collapsible steering column and a “Monza” style fuel filler cap rather than the simple screw-on type. The optional 7” (rather than 5.5”) headlamps also assist with modern-day motoring although they do retain the original specification sealed beam units.

Accompanying the vehicle will be a comprehensive portfolio of bills and receipts, plus various other correspondences including a letter from Lotus Cars confirming the date of manufacture. The vehicle has successfully passed a UK MOT test and has a (zero cost) UK tax disc.

I have just returned from a successful “shakedown” drive in the vehicle which showed nothing untoward in terms of ride and handling and engine performance so it is now ready to be enjoyed by its’ new owner!
